A1 and A2 Beta-Casein

Searching for common ground and moving the science forward

THE BRIEF

 

The a2 Milk CompanyTM briefed Appetite to organise an expert workshop to explore the science behind beta-casein (A1 and A2 variants) and provide a forum for informed discussion and debate.

Given the topical nature of the issue, our goal was to bring together experts with differing perspectives to present the latest science on beta-casein to health and nutrition stakeholders including health organisations, health professionals and industry.

To ensure a robust and balanced scientific discussion, we worked with the Nutrition Society of Australia (Melbourne branch), who hosted the workshop, alongside Professor Andrew Sinclair who facilitated the program development as well as the workshop.

THE RESULT

Leading Australian and New Zealand experts presented with around 100 health stakeholders attending, highlighting the relevance of the issue.

There was valuable discussion on the science, gaps in the research and key messages based on the current evidence. Importantly, the workshop created networks, fostered new relationships for future research and promoted the sharing of ideas and opportunities.

A Summary Report of the workshop was prepared for health professionals and promoted through a range of channels including the company’s healthcare professional website.
